2019 Schedule of Touring

and Performance Engagements

Hello and thank you for visiting my touring calendar of adventures. I am reserving the first 6 months of 2019 to stay home for writing (2 manuscripts), training (refill the well) and film projects (Soooo worth the wait). I’ve been on perpetual tour for 30 years and this short break is a tad overdue… don’t you agree?! 2018 was a spectacular year on the road, and I also assumed directorship of CU Boulder’s Graduate Studies in Dance. I am inspired to take a little time to integrate the magical experiences that expanded my horizons exponentially. The following select engagements are confirmed for 2019, and additional events may be added. My sun-drenched reading room (below) may hold me hostage for a longer stretch of the calendar. Regardless, please know I still welcome your inquiry for academic, philanthropic and commercial projects. Your support of my work is profoundly appreciated. I’ll be back out there sooner than later!

  1. Boulder, CO (April 12 – 20, 2019) CU Boulder Theatre & Dance Annual Concert The Current: https://cupresents.org/event/1670/cu-theatre-dance/the-current/
  2. Golden, CO (April 25 – April 28, 2019) Elevations Dance Festival: (performance, instruction, panel discussion and lecture) https://elevationbellydance.com/
  3. Plainfield, MA (July 25 – July 28, 2019) Earthdance Workshop and Retreat Center: This annual immersion with Donna Mejia is a dedicated fundraiser for Earthdance. We begin with 3 hours of somatic daily practice, an extended rest/lunch break, and complete each day with a 3 hour dance practice. This is not a schedule recommended for beginners. We also enjoy a variety of enrichments such as time together at the natural food-fired sauna, pajama youtube.com watching parties, theoretical discussions, and drool-worthy vegetarian cuisine! I draw no personal salary from this event, and ALL of your registration fees benefit the organization. Registration fees cover your boarding (dormitory style with community bathrooms), your meals, and all activities on site. https://www.earthdance.net/
  4. Portland, OR (August 1 – August 4, 2019) Jamballah NW Dance Festival: Yes and more yes! (performance, instruction and lecture) https://www.jamballahnw.com/
  5.  Washington D.C. (September 27 – September 29, 2019) Sahara Dance Studio: Home away from home! Thank you to the incredible family and Dance Mama Rachel Kay Broomire for having my back. https://saharadance.com/

  1. Hi Donna! Can you give us a hint as to what you you’ll be teaching in Orlando in July, 2015? After attending your workshop in the Cincinnati/Covington area a few years back, (thanks to Zahara) I knew that once was not enough. I’d also love for my new students to have a similar experience! Peace and love, Jan H.
